Unwind without the wine

Non-alcoholic evening drinks for restful nights and hydrated skin.

Money-back guarantee · Backed by research

A generation of women, more affected by a midweek glass.

A glass of red wine against a dark background

Research shows alcohol hits harder for women over 40 than it did ten years ago. They've noticed the hangovers. The rest they blame on age.

Awake at three. Night sweats. Tired all day. It's partly the alcohol.

So they drink less, and are left with tea, water, or something full of sugar.

The drink to end your day.

One sachet, tonic water, ice.

What makes Kinn different

Jujube seed

You'll know magnesium. You may know L-theanine. This one you won't.

Two thousand years in Chinese medicine, for a mind that won't settle. A placebo-controlled trial of 106 women found a measurable difference in three weeks, at the 500mg we use.

Benefits

Overnight restoration

Skin renewal, every night

Vitamin C for collagen production. Hyaluronic acid for water retention.

Calmer evenings, better sleep

Jujube seed for a mind that won't settle, with L-theanine and glycine.

Less drained, more yourself

Magnesium, for tiredness and fatigue.

Our standards

Every ingredient had to earn its place

Six made it in. Some obvious ones didn't.

Most evening formulas are a long list of familiar botanicals — chamomile, passionflower, hops — largely because people recognise them. We built around one almost nobody in the UK does. Jujube seed, or suan zao ren, has been used in Chinese medicine for around two thousand years.

Magnesium always comes bound to something else, and that pairing decides how much of it you actually absorb. Oxide is the cheapest and, by most estimates, the worst absorbed by a distance — much of it simply stays in the gut, which is where its reputation for discomfort comes from. Bisglycinate absorbs considerably better and sits gently in the evening.

The one everyone expects, and it's in most products in this category. The evidence behind it is reasonable for stress and thinner for anything else. It can also affect thyroid hormone levels — and thyroid conditions are more common in women than men, and more common again with age. That isn't a risk worth taking in a formula built for this group, so it isn't in here.

In the UK melatonin is a prescription medicine rather than a supplement, so it was never an option for a nightly drink. It also does a narrower job than most people assume: it shifts the timing of your body clock, which is why it's prescribed for jet lag and shift work.

How it started

My mum thought the bad nights were just her age.

Mum likes a glass of wine in front of the TV after a long day. At some point it started costing her more than it used to. Worse headaches, broken sleep, feeling rough well into the next day.

She put it down to work, or to getting older. But it was worse on the nights she drank, and once she'd noticed she couldn't unnotice it.

She didn't stop. She just stopped fully enjoying it.

Her alternatives were drinks high in sugar, a cup of tea, or something pretending to be wine. Nobody was making the thing she actually wanted, so I did. That's how Kinn started.

The first thing I've swapped my wine for that I actually look forward to.

Tastes genuinely lovely — sharp lemon, not medicinal at all. I'd braced myself for something chalky and it isn't.

The ritual is the point. I make my cup, the house goes quiet, and it's become the ten minutes that are mine.

Took a few weeks before I'd have said anything. By week five I noticed I wasn't reaching for a third coffee.

How we compare

You've probably tried a few of these.

"I already take magnesium."

Same form, same 250mg. The difference is the five other things in with it — one ingredient only does one job.

"I already have a chamomile before bed."

A teabag gives you flavour and warmth. This gives you both, plus six ingredients at the amounts used in the research.

"I already have one of the sleepy hot chocolates."

Those are built on ashwagandha. We left it out on purpose — it can affect thyroid levels, and thyroid problems are more common in women.

"I already take supplements before bed."

You've got the hard part already. This is a drink at the point you'd pour a glass, rather than tablets on the way up.

Zero sugar, low calorie.

One sachet is 20 calories, and there's no sugar in it. Mix it with soda water, slimline tonic, or just water.

Frequently Asked Questions

An evening drink for women in midlife — six ingredients, each at a real dose, in one nightly sachet stirred into warm water. No melatonin, no filler.

Bright Sicilian lemon with a clean, refreshing tang. Not sweet. Good cold, good warm.

When you sit down for the evening, instead of the glass you'd normally pour. There's no right time on the clock — the consistency matters more than the hour.

No. It takes the edge off, it won't knock you out. If you're expecting what two glasses of wine does, this isn't that — and I'd rather say so now than have you find out on night one.

No, and I'm not asking you to. But have it every evening if you can — most of what's in it builds up over weeks rather than working on the night, so having it now and then won't tell either of us much. Plenty of people will have it most evenings and still enjoy a glass of wine at the weekend.

Exactly who we built it for. A considered nightly ritual — six well-chosen ingredients, including jujube seed, used in Chinese medicine for centuries, and magnesium in its gentlest form. Not a quick fix.

Think in weeks, not one night. It builds gradually with consistent use — made to be lived with, not judged in a morning. Miss the odd night and you've undone nothing.

Better form and a full dose — bisglycinate, not cheap oxide at a token amount. And it isn't just magnesium: it's built around jujube seed, which most don't include at all.

Yes — it's a food supplement, not hormonal, so it sits alongside HRT. If you take regular medication, have a quick word with your GP or pharmacist.

Check with your GP or pharmacist before you start. One of the ingredients, jujube seed, can interact with some antidepressants.

One sachet in warm or cold water, the same time each evening. The consistency is part of how it works.

No. You can buy a single box at £53, or subscribe at £42 a month and save. Pause or cancel any time, no lock-in.

As long as your plan runs — thirty nights on the monthly, ninety on the quarterly. If it hasn't earned its place, we'll refund you — no forms, no fuss.
